Upon your arrival at Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport, you’ll be greeted for your transfer to the Quito Basecamp Hotel, located in the heart of the historical center. This charming hotel offers a cozy atmosphere and easy access to Quito’s UNESCO-listed Old Town. Spend the evening settling in, exploring the vibrant streets nearby, or enjoying a quiet dinner at a local restaurant.
Today is yours to discover Quito’s rich culture and history. Start your day by strolling through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, visiting iconic landmarks like the Plaza Grande, La Compañía de Jesús Church with its gilded interior, and the San Francisco Monastery. You can climb the towers of the Basílica del Voto Nacional for panoramic views of the city or visit the nearby Panecillo Hill for a closer look at the Virgin of Quito statue.
After breakfast, head on your own to the TelefériQo cable car station, we recommend using UBER, this is located on the slopes of Pichincha Volcano. The ride will take you up to 3,945 meters (12,943 feet), offering stunning views of Quito and the surrounding Andes. From there, embark on your trek to the summit of Rucu Pichincha, which stands at 4,698 meters (15,413 feet).
The hike takes approximately 5-7 hours round trip, depending on your pace and acclimatization level. The trail features varied terrain, from grassy plains to rocky paths, with breathtaking views along the way. Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and warm layers, as weather conditions can change rapidly. After completing your trek, return to Quito Basecamp Hotel to relax and recover.
We start at 6 am from Quito, the drive to Iliniza National Park is about 2 hours, trek starts from here, to the summit, after 2 hours we have a short stop at the Iliniza refuge for snacks and then we continue to the summit
Iliniza norte hardly ever has snow or glacier, the summit is located at 5112 m and you only need trekking boots, Harness and a Helmet
this is a great training for acclimatization
After reaching the summit, we return to Quito Basecamp.
We depart to Cayambe at 11 am, from here the drive is 2.5 hours away, then we have lunch at Cayambe town.
the ride to the national park then is about one hour, after passing the registration, we head to the refuge
Dinner is served at 5 pm and then rest till midnight for the summit attack

After breakfast, we set off for Cotopaxi National Park, a scenic one-hour drive to the park’s registry. Here, we’ll enjoy lunch before continuing to the car park at 4,600 meters (15,092 feet). From the car park, a short trek brings us to the refuge at 4,860 meters (15,944 feet). Once there, we settle in and prepare for the summit climb, which begins at midnight.

The summit climb begins at midnight, departing from the refuge at 4,864 meters (15,958 feet). The ascent takes about six hours, leading you through volcanic rock and glaciers under the night sky. As dawn breaks, you’ll reach the summit at 5,897 meters (19,347 feet), where stunning views of the Andes and Cotopaxi National Park await.
After enjoying the moment at the top, you’ll make your way back to the refuge. A hearty breakfast will be served to help you recharge after the climb. Once you’re ready, you’ll leave the park and drive to Chimborazo Basecamp Lodge. This scenic journey marks the transition to the next stage of your adventure.

Today is dedicated to rest and acclimatization at Chimborazo Basecamp, located at an elevation of 3,900 meters (12,795 feet). This day allows your body to adjust to the altitude in preparation for the challenging climb ahead. The basecamp, surrounded by the striking landscapes of Chimborazo’s foothills, provides a peaceful environment where you can relax, take in the breathtaking views of the Andes, and mentally prepare for the summit attempt.
You can spend the day exploring the surrounding area with short walks to enjoy the diverse flora and fauna, which include vicuñas grazing in the high-altitude plains. Use this opportunity to hydrate well, stretch, and ensure your gear is ready for the next stages of the climb. Chimborazo Basecamp also offers a chance to interact with fellow climbers and share stories of past and future adventures.
Meals are provided on-site, with a nourishing breakfast to start the day and a hearty dinner to fuel your acclimatization efforts. These meals are designed to provide the energy you’ll need for your journey. As night falls, enjoy the tranquility of the highlands and rest up for the challenges that lie ahead.
Your journey begins with a midday pick-up and transfer to the Chimborazo car park at 4,800 meters (15,748 feet). From here, you'll prepare for the climb in the stunning high-altitude environment, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Chimborazo’s foothills. This is an ideal time to check your gear, organize your equipment, and take in the beauty of the Andes as you mentally and physically prepare for the ascent.
Dinner is served early at 5 PM, providing a hearty and nutritious meal to fuel your body for the rigorous climb ahead. For those seeking to start from a higher elevation, an upgrade to the High Camp, located at 5,300 meters (17,388 feet), is available for an additional $55. This option not only shortens the summit push but also offers a more immersive experience at a higher altitude.
At midnight, the climb to Chimborazo’s summit begins. This ascent is a challenging yet rewarding journey through glaciers and rocky terrain, lit by the starry Andean sky. The summit, standing at 6,263 meters (20,548 feet), offers an unforgettable view and the sense of achieving a remarkable milestone.
Meals for the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring you’re well-fueled and ready for the adventure. This itinerary is designed to maximize your acclimatization and provide the best possible chance of reaching the summit.
The summit window is targeted for between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM, marking the culmination of your challenging ascent. Reaching the summit of Chimborazo, at an elevation of 6,263 meters (20,548 feet), is an extraordinary achievement. You’ll have the opportunity to take in the breathtaking sunrise and the awe-inspiring views of the Andean peaks and valleys below. This is often described as a life-changing moment, as Chimborazo’s summit is the furthest point from the Earth’s center and closest to the sun, due to the planet’s equatorial bulge.
After taking a moment to celebrate your accomplishment and capture photos, the descent begins. Carefully retracing your steps, you’ll descend through the glacier and rocky terrain, returning to the car park where you started your climb. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a well-earned breakfast to replenish your energy and reflect on the incredible journey you’ve just completed.
Following breakfast, climbers are promptly transferred back from the expedition to Riobamba, the nearest major city. The drive offers time to relax, unwind, and marvel at the incredible landscapes that make Chimborazo such a sought-after destination for mountaineers. Upon arrival in Riobamba, the expedition concludes, leaving you with unforgettable memories of your summit adventure.
